Prepare your child to flourish in a changing world
This is not a school where you will find children huddled over endless worksheets or studying to pass state-issued standardized tests. Our academic environment is interactive. Here, students of all ages work together to solve problems, conduct experiments and research in labs, explore the arts, and engage in debates about global issues. Selwyn School not only prepares students for college but for education in all forms and settings.
WHAT MAKES SELWYN DIFFERENT?
Lessons are coordinated, thoughtfully integrated, clearly articulated, developmentally appropriate, and continuously reviewed.
We are a non-profit, independent school that meets all the requirements for NAIS membership, including full NAIS-approved accreditation.
Meaningful assessments and feedback are regularly given to students and parents.
The Selwyn curriculum results from thoughtful exploration and implementation by our faculty and reflects the diversity of the school, society, and the world.
Of course, our curriculum is well grounded in academics. We also develop the intellectual, creative, social, physical, ethical and emotional growth of each student.
As an independent school, we offer differentiated instruction, student-centered teaching and experiential learning.
We recognize that each student learns differently and we do everything possible to respond accordingly to those needs.
Everyone’s voice is essential here at Selwyn, and we work hard to ensure that all students and their parents or guardians feel safe and find a place to belong in our community. Admissions are open to all students and families. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic origin, or disability in the administration of our educational and extracurricular programs, including admission and financial aid.
