| September 26 is National Pancake Day! To celebrate, Selwyn’s Director of Early Childhood Education, Mrs. Jennifer Livas, and two special guests, joined the team on NBC5’s Texas Today for a special pancake feast. (Watch their segment here!) They showcased Selwyn’s early childhood curriculum related to healthy, nutritious cooking and environmental exploration. McGinty and Tomoko Suzuki A core aspect of Selwyn’s mission is the cultivation of global perspectives. Pancakes to Parathas achieves that same ambition by widening children’s perspectives about the many cultures around the world. While we may eat different breakfasts, all children wake up hungry and ready for a meal. This interesting book invites children to explore the world through the food that we eat. Mama Panya’s Pancakes by Mary & Rich Chamberlin and Julia Cairns Similarly to Pancakes to Parathas, Mama Panya’s Pancakes tells a story about Kenyan village life. An intriguing story that highlights the importance of sharing, children are delighted by this charming tale. Pancakes for Breakfast by Tomie dePaola A humorous tale told without words, this gently humorous book tells the story of an older lady who just wants pancakes for breakfast. What could possibly go wrong? Pancakes!
