  • James “Kevin” Richardson

    James “Kevin” Richardson ‘78, graduated from Selwyn with the Headmaster’s Award. He attended Holy Cross Junior College (South Bend, IN) for a year and then the University of Houston for a semester. Having had enough of book-learning and classrooms, he entered the Navy’s nuclear-powered propulsion program in February of 1980. Finally finished with Navy book-learning and classrooms in May of 1982, he joined the fast attack submarine USA Dallas (SSN-700) as she began her operational service. In January of 1988, Richardson left Dallas and the Navy with a B.S. in Nuclear Technology and Sociology.

    In 1988, he entered the Florida Army National Guard and attended officer candidate school. Graduating in 1989, he entered active duty for what would become a twelve-year career. He was on retirement leave when the September 11th attacks came and attempted to get recalled to active duty, but life had other plans. After supporting units in various roles at Fort Bliss, TX for another twelve years, he and his wife, fellow Unicorn Pamela B. (Brough) Richardson, moved to Alpine. He currently tends goats and works seasonally for a local vineyard.

    Pamela B. (Brough) Richardson attended Selwyn’s middle school in 75-76, and upper school in 76-77. Her family moved to California, where she went on to graduate from the Athenian School in Danville, CA. She later graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois before returning to Texas. She and Kevin married in El Paso in 2002 and moved to Alpine in 2012. They each brought a child from previous marriages to the union; Pam’s son William and Kevin’s daughter, Megan. Pam is employed as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
