| For Immediate Release: Selwyn School Alumni Group Establishes Endowed Scholarship Fund ARGYLE, Texas (October 8, 2024) – A group of Selwyn School alumni have created an endowed fund for the John and Robin Doncaster Merit Scholarship, the proceeds of which will benefit Doncaster Scholars in perpetuity. Named for Selwyn School’s founding Head of School and his wife, the John and Robin Doncaster Merit Scholarship is awarded to one eligible Upper School student annually. Doncaster Scholars are the recipients of this scholarship, and these students are selected for their ability to perpetuate the rich diversity of voices that add global perspective to Selwyn’s campus, student, and family body. In the same way that the Doncaster family nurtured a global outlook through academic rigor and experiential learning, the Doncaster legacy lives on as Doncaster Scholars promote a variety of intellectual perspectives as a central tenet of the school’s mission. This full tuition scholarship is available each year to one incoming Upper School student of exceptional ability from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and communities. Ultimately, consideration for the John and Robin Doncaster Merit Scholarship is based on a student’s entrance testing, academic, artistic, and other noteworthy abilities, as well as their potential to contribute to Selwyn’s mission of cultivating global citizens. Available to one incoming Upper School student each year, the John and Robin Doncaster Merit Scholarship intends to bring more academic excellence to Selwyn’s campus, student, and family body as the school nurtures global perspectives at North Texas’ premier school of choice. Following the recent passing of John Doncaster, a group of Selwyn School alumni donated to establish an endowed fund supporting the John and Robin Doncaster Merit Scholarship. Investment proceeds from the endowment will support the scholarship awards of Doncaster Scholars in perpetuity.
